Product information
Formula:
Eqvalan® Gold is a ready-to-use antiparasitic formulation containing 1.55% Merial ivermectin and 7.75% praziquantel
Indications:
Indicated for the treatment and control of gastrointestinal and pulmonary round worms in horses, in addition to flat worms (tapeworms). Eqvalan® Gold is highly effective against large (Strongylus vulgaris, S. edentatus, S. equinus and Triodontophorus spp) and small strongyls, in the adult and immature stages.
It controls Parascaris equorum in adult and hepatic migratory stages, gastric worms (Habronema muscae, Draschia megastoma) in their gastric and cutaneous forms, Strongyloides westeri, transmitted via colostrum/milk to foals, subcutaneous worm (Onchocerca cervicallis), gastric myiasis and oral caused by Gasterophilus spp and flatworms or tapeworms (Anoplocephala magna, A. perfoliata and Paranoplocephala mamillana).
Dosage:
The syringe contains enough paste to treat an animal weighing up to 600 kg, at the recommended dosage of 200 mcg of ivermectin and 1 mg of praziquantel per kilogram of animal weight.
Each graduation on the syringe plunger represents enough paste to treat 100 kg liveweight. Turn the ring attached to the syringe plunger to the right and secure it to the desired weight mark. Make sure the animal does not have any food in its mouth. Remove the cap and insert the syringe into the interdental space (between front and back teeth).
Depress the plunger and deposit the paste on top of the tongue towards the back of the mouth. Immediately after application, lift the animal's head and hold it in this position for a few seconds.
Recommendations:
• Avoid underdosing. Treat the animals according to their live weight, which can be measured on appropriate scales or using a chest tape.
• Some animals may show edema (swelling) in the ventral portion of the body, particularly in the chest and abdomen region after treatment, due to the high mortality of microfilariae of the subcutaneous worm Onchocerca spp. This reaction spontaneously disappears after a few days, but in case of doubt, treatment can be started according to the advice of your veterinarian.
• Healing of extensive "Summer Wounds" or "Sponges" may require specific therapy in conjunction with treatment with Eqvalan® Gold.
• Reinfection and measures to prevent it must be considered. In both cases, consult your veterinarian for further clarification.
• Empty packaging must be destroyed by incineration and never reused or washed in rivers or weirs.
• Avoid smoking or eating while handling.
• Wash hands after handling.
• Keep this and other medications out of reach of children and pets.
• Horses intended for human consumption must not be treated within 14 days prior to slaughter
