Recommendation:
Bovguard is a pour on ectoparasiticide based on Fipronil (1%), indicated for the treatment and prevention of the main ectoparasites of young and adult cattle. A highly effective product for the control of ticks, warbles, horn flies and myiasis/worms in cattle.
Dosage and Route of Administration:
Topical application (pour on) of 1 mL/10 kg of live weight, equivalent to 1mg of Fipronil per kg of live weight.
The recommended dose should be administered along the animal's dorsal midline, from the neck to the insertion of the tail, using the product's self-dosing package or metering gun.
The product must be applied in a single dose.
Intoxication and overdose in animals: Fipronil has selective action for arthropods, therefore, it is not considered a toxic product for animals. However, poisonings are observed from derivatives of Fipronil itself, which, in contact with alkaline pH water and solar irradiation, gives rise to three other compounds with greater toxicity on arthropods and domestic animals (sulfone, sulfide and desulfinil). These, in turn, have a wide range of action and can quickly lead to death.
Grace period:
cattle: slaughter: the slaughter of treated animals should only be carried out 93 days after the last application. milk: this product should not be applied to females producing milk for human consumption.
