Indications:
Cortvet is indicated in all cases that require an immediate hormonal response.
Large animals: As an aid in the treatment of acute mastitis, metritis, severe pneumonia, transport and vitular fever and ketosis in cattle. In horses, it is indicated for affections of the musculoskeletal system such as: myositis, carpitis, bursitis, dislocations and as an auxiliary medication for fatigue and heat exhaustion.
Properties:
Cortvet is composed of a synthetic analogue of prednisolone, but with more potent anti-inflammatory activity and improved hormonal effects. Dexamethasone has a greater anti-inflammatory effect than other corticosteroids.
Dosage:
Cattle: 2.5 to 10 mL intramuscularly or intravenously, depending on the severity of the case.
Horses: 1.25 to 2.5 ml intramuscularly or intravenously.
Pigs: 0.5 to 3 ml intramuscularly or intravenously.
Presentation:
Vial ampoule with 50 ml.
Grace period:
The slaughter of treated animals should only be carried out 11 days after the last application, when administered by the intramuscular route.
Cortvet has no lack of milk, however, and application in cows that are in the final third of pregnancy is contraindicated, as it can induce abortion.
