Indications:
Treating inflammatory processes in general in cattle, horses, swine and sheep, including joint inflammation and bovine ketosis. Assist in the treatment of mastitis, severe pneumonia, rheumatic, allergic, dermatological and other disorders where the use of corticosteroids is indicated.
Route of administration, method of use and dosage:
Therapeutic dose: 0.25 mg to 20 mg of dexamethose (sodium phosphate) per animal, as follows:
Cattle: 2.5 ml to 10.0 ml/animal/intramuscularly or intravenously.
Repeat dose if necessary.
Horses: 1.25 ml to 2.5 ml/animal/intramuscularly or intravenously.
Repeat dose if necessary.
Pigs and Sheep: 1.25 ml to 2.5 ml/animal/intramuscularly or intravenously.
Repeat dose if necessary.
The interval between doses is at the discretion of the veterinarian.
Contraindications:
Do not administer the product to animals with diabetes mellitus, renal failure, osteoporosis and severe verminosis.
Do not use in ruminants in the last trimester of pregnancy, as it may bring forward delivery.
Precautions:
Bear in mind that high doses of dexamethasone can cause depression of adrenocorticoid function, causing adrenal atrophy.
Discontinuation of long-term treatment should be gradual.
Doses above 2.5 ml per animal (5 mg dexamethasone sodium phosphate) may cause drowsiness or lethargy in horses.
Excessive doses can cause seizures.
Excessive use of steroids in sheep inhibits wool growth.
In infectious conditions, an antibacterial therapy (chemotherapeutic or antibiotic) must be started along with the administration of the product.
The animals under treatment must be monitored, although the product in low doses does not cause sodium and water retention or potassium loss. The veterinarian must be alert to notice any unexpected effects and take action to correct them.
Grace period:
Cattle and Sheep:
Slaughter: the slaughter of animals treated with this product should only be carried out 07 days after the last application.
Milk: The milk of animals treated with this product should not be destined for human consumption until 03 days after the last application of this product.
Equidae (Equus caballus/Horses) and Swine:
Slaughter: The slaughter of animals treated with this product should only be carried out 07 days after the last application.
